I began working for the Forest Service as a seasonal temporary in summer of 1998. In September of 2000, I completed my Master's degree from the University of Minnesota in Fisheries Sciences. After many, many months of job searching, I acquired a job with the US Fish and Wildlife Services in 2001. In New Mexico. Yes, New Mexico does have fish. In 2002, I decided New Mexico was too dry, and went to California instead, landing in the Sierra Nevadas, working for the Forest Service. I learned in 2003 that my job was not to be renewed, so I packed my bags once again and this time ended up in Nevada (Forest Service once again). Northeastern Nevada. Like New Mexico, Nevada does indeed have both water and fish...somewhere....
Starting to see a pattern here? I crave green and wet places, but with each job find a place both higher and drier than before. At this rate, I'll be working in Death Valley in a couple of years. For this photo, it is spring 2004, and the snow has melted off enough to do a bit of early spring hiking...straight uphill.
